Hello and welcome back to the blog! We're back today with everyone's favorite space: The Fleur House.
This French Countryside-Inspired home is a fan favorite - and for good reason! With beautiful views, creamy tones, and vintage touches throughout the space, it's a slice of heaven right in the heart of Santa Barbara, California.
While we love the gorgeous Carrara Marble and the reclaimed wood accents, by far the most asked question about the Fleur House is: What paint colors did you choose?
Well you're all in luck because today we're sharing a comprehensive look at all the paint colors we used at our beloved Fleur House. Let's dive right in!
Exterior Paint Colors
First up, we're talking exterior paint colors! This is quite possibly our favorite combination of colors yet.
As soon as we saw the Fleur House, we knew we had to keep the vintage charm of this French-inspired space while still giving it a modern Californian upgrade. We went back and forth for a bit on exactly how we wanted to achieve the look, but in the end we decided to keep it traditional but bright. After all, you know we love neutrals and a pop of color.
The gorgeous green shade you see on the windows and doors of the Fleur House is "Parisian Patina" by Benjamin Moore (fitting, we know!). It's the perfect French Countryside shade of green.
For a little more contrast, we decided to go with "Tony Taupe" by Benjamin Moore for the eaves, fascia, and window skirt. It added the perfect amount of contrast without taking away from the beautiful Parisian Patina.
Last but not least, the color of the house itself: "Crisp Linen" by Benjamin Moore. When painting your exterior white, you really have to try out a few options before making your final select. Especially in sunny California, if you go too white, and the sun hits the exterior directly, it can be almost blinding. Taking into account the lighting the Fleur House gets, along with the vibe we were going for, "Crisp Linen" was the perfect creamy, bright white that we were going for.
Interior Paint Colors
Now, let's head inside! First on the list is the famous Fleur House kitchen.
Kitchen
For the cabinets in the kitchen, we wanted to keep it neutral and bright, but not white. To keep it creamy and natural to compliment the gorgeous Carrara marble countertops, we went with "Revere Pewter" by Benjamin Moore in an eggshell finish.
We love how soft this shade is and how it looks completely different with all the different lighting the Fleur House gets throughout the day!
To keep it consistent, we also used "Revere Pewter" by Benjamin Moore in an eggshell finish on tongue and groove wall paneling behind the countertops as well.
To complement the color of the cabinets and tongue and groove, but also add some contrast, we selected "Natural Cream" by Benjamin Moore in a satin finish for the baseboards, trim, case, moulding, and doors. We typically select an eggshell finish when painting baseboards and trim, but wanted the color in here to stand out a bit more, so we went with satin in this space!
Last but not least, the wall color! We went with one of our go-to's, an all-time favorite: "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in an eggshell finish. The ceiling is also Milk Glass, but in a velvet finish.
You may notice that in most of the other rooms we use a flat finish for the ceilings. This is because we always recommend a higher sheen in spaces where more moisture will be present (i.e. bathrooms), and/or where there's the possibility of splatter (i.e. kitchens). The velvet finish in these rooms adds an extra layer of protection to avoid having to repaint often.
Last but not least, the fireplace wall is actually not painted, we decided to simply seal the raw plaster since we loved the color so much already. We couldn't love this kitchen more!
Dining Room
Now onto the beloved dining room...
Clearly the statement in here isn't a paint color, but we figured this wallpaper deserved a spot on the blog as well! This gorgeous vintage-inspired design is the OPIA Wallpaper by House of Hackney and had the perfect tones we were going for in this space.
To compliment the wallpaper, we painted the base, moulding, case, trim, and doors the same "Natural Cream" by Benjamin Moore as in the kitchen in a satin finish to give it that pop! Last but not least, for the ceiling we went with a long time favorite, "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in a flat finish to keep it nice and simple against the statement wallpaper.
Living Room
Right off of the wallpapered dining room, we head into the bright, yet neutral and calm living room.
By now, I think you can see our deep love of "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards, and that's exactly what we went with for the living room in an eggshell finish.
We carried the same ceiling paint from the dining room to create continuity, using "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in a flat finish, and the same base/trim/moulding paint as well, "Natural Cream" by Benjamin Moore in a satin finish.
Isn't she just lovely?
Office
You guessed it - "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in an eggshell finish on the walls, "Natural Cream" by Benjamin Moore in a satin finish for the doors, trim, moulding, and case, and "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in a flat finish for the ceiling in the office as well!
Guest Bedroom One
Now onto the bedrooms!
Consistency was the name of the game in Fleur House Bedrooms. For the first guest bedroom, we went with "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in an eggshell finish on the walls, "Natural Cream" by Benjamin Moore in a satin finish for the doors, trim, moulding, and case, and "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in a flat finish for the ceiling.
We carried all of these colors into the Guest Bath as well, with the addition of "Revere Pewter" by Benjamin Moore on the bathroom cabinets - the perfect neutral palette!
Guest Bedroom Two + Hall Bath
We told you consistency was key! For the second guest bedroom, we also went with "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in an eggshell finish on the walls, "Natural Cream" by Benjamin Moore in a satin finish for the doors, trim, moulding, and case, and "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in a flat finish for the ceiling.
While this guest bedroom doesn't have an en-suite bathroom like the first one, it is right next to the hall bath, so we'll head there next!
We carried all of the same colors into this guest bath as well, using "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in an eggshell finish on the walls, "Natural Cream" by Benjamin Moore in a satin finish for the doors, trim, moulding, and case, and "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in a flat finish for the ceiling.
However, instead of using Revere Pewter for the cabinets, we switched it up and went with "Useful Grey" by Sherwin Williams in a satin finish.
Primary Suite
Last but certainly not least, the gorgeous primary suite!
Bet you can't guess the colors we used in here...
Just kidding! We kept it consistent with the other bedrooms and used "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in an eggshell finish on the walls, "Natural Cream" by Benjamin Moore in a satin finish for the doors, trim, moulding, and case, and "Milk Glass" by Dunn Edwards in a flat finish for the ceiling.
And now, possibly the most gorgeous space of all...
Primary Bath
We carried all of the colors from the bedroom into the bath as well , with the addition of "Revere Pewter" by Benjamin Moore on the bathroom cabinets, and we're in looooove.
Possibly one of our favorite things about the Fleur House is that while we used many of the same paints throughout the entire house, they look different in every room.
It's so important to consider lighting and to test paints out in each space you'll be using them, because they truly vary so greatly depending on a multitude of factors.
