Now that we've revealed our modern beach house (check it out here!) we want to show you guys some before and afters. It's always fun to see the transformation of a home from what was once to new, re-imagines spaces. The layouts in this house were kept for the most part, as-is. We used fresh paint, a little elbow grease, new flooring, and updated furniture to give this house a fresh, fun look!
The exterior before and after:
The main focus for the exterior was cleaning up and re-landscaping, fresh paint and light fixtures, as well as the biggest budget piece of all - a new roof! That change really helped take this house to a more updated, modern look. The new landscaping created a much more inviting feel in the neighborhood. Not pictured: the kick-ass vertical slat black fence that adds a little bit of privacy from the street.
The living room before and after:
Because of COVID we're still waiting for some really cool custom pieces for this room but we must say, we're pretty happy with how its turned out thus far! The double-sided fireplace is such a fun feature in this house and we wanted to really make it pop. Black paint to the rescue once again!
The kitchen before and after:
We wanted to create a beautiful, modern, updated space but with a serious budget in mind. So, the layout stayed the same, some upper cabinets were removed, porcelain countertops were added and two-tone cabinets were painted!
Removing one row of upper cabinets (they were hanging from the ceiling, blocking the view into the kitchen) really opened up the space without making much of a dent in the budget! Win!
The beautiful blue, Sherwin Williams' 'Dress Blues,' really makes a statement and the pops of natural toned wood + brass compliment it perfectly for this funky beach house! We carried Bedrosians' 'Isabella Lantern' tile from the kitchen backsplash through a few of the bathrooms to tie color + design together - a great choice because it's one of the most complimented design elements from our guests!
The den before and after:
Directly facing the kitchen, this room is the perfect early morning coffee zone or pre-dinner drink hangout spot. It was a odd, undefined space when we got our hands on it but painting the fireplace, rethinking the lighting and layout really helped give this room the purpose it needed! Fact: we've already sat there drinking wine and love it.
The dining room before and after:
A great example of a room that was in desperate need of updating but already a great space. The room was fine but, the 30yr old carpet was not. Nor was the very old, but not cool-old, chandelier. We added a modern, brass chandelier and updated the flooring and viola! Beauty!
Stay tuned next week for some more before and after pictures of our #BlackrockBeachHouse !
